"Christ is the reason for this school. He is the unseen but ever present teacher in its classes; the model of its faculty and the inspiration of its students." This belief causes us to value a structured environment as a prelude to learning, growth, and the development of caring relationships grounded in Christian values. In this structure the teacher is seen as a minister of the gospel.
St. Jerome School creates a community of hope and stability for its students, many of whom experience daily chaos, racism, and random violence of urban life. Hope is fostered primarily through caring adults, sensitive to and keenly aware of the struggles and unique challenges that affect our West Indian and wholly minority school population. Stability is rooted in Christian Values that are modeled daily by faculty and staff and a structured environment that is conducive to skills enrichment by all learners.
